Superman Over Metropolis, Oil on Canvas, 78’ x 120”
The Man of Steel, comic book’s very first super-hero, Superman. Originally published in 1938 in Action Comics #1 by two young, imaginative creators, Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel, Superman’s adventures captured the hearts and minds of readers all across America. I wanted to catch the essence of Superman flying faster than a speeding bullet, high into the atmosphere above his city of Metropolis. Oh, does that really look a bit like New York?
Meticulously painted with oil on canvas this painting is a gigantic 10 feet tall and 6 1/2 feet wide. It took over a month to complete and because of the thousands of windows required I swore off painting buildings for at least six months…!
